Job Description
This is a full time Marine Engineer role at sea on a fishing vessel operated from Cuxhaven. The Marine Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on board. He plays a central part in keeping the vessel running smoothly throughout fishing operations at sea.
Key Responsibilities
Operate, monitor, and maintain all engine room equipment, including main engines, generators, pumps, and hydraulic systems.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure vessel readiness and minimise downtime during trips.
Troubleshoot mechanical and technical issues quickly and effectively.
Keep accurate logs of engine performance, fuel consumption, maintenance activities, and repairs.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and maritime standards.
Work closely with the captain and crew to coordinate operations and communicate technical conditions.
Manage spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies on board.
Participate in safety drills and contribute to a clean, organised, and hazard-free engine room.
Qualifications
A degree in maritime engineering or equivalent technical training.
Valid maritime certificates required for engineering positions at sea.
Experience working on fishing vessels or other commercial ships (preferred).
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
Ability to work independently and handle high-pressure situations during operations.
