Job Description
This is a full time Marine Engineer role at sea on a fishing vessel operated from Cuxhaven. The Marine Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on board. He plays a central part in keeping the vessel running smoothly throughout fishing operations at sea.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain all engine room equipment, including main engines, generators, pumps, and hydraulic systems.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure vessel readiness and minimise downtime during trips.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical and technical issues quickly and effectively.

  • Keep accurate logs of engine performance, fuel consumption, maintenance activities, and repairs.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and maritime standards.

  • Work closely with the captain and crew to coordinate operations and communicate technical conditions.

  • Manage spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies on board.

  • Participate in safety drills and contribute to a clean, organised, and hazard-free engine room.

Qualifications

  • A degree in maritime engineering or equivalent technical training.

  • Valid maritime certificates required for engineering positions at sea.

  • Experience working on fishing vessels or other commercial ships (preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.

  • Ability to work independently and handle high-pressure situations during operations.

  • Commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.
